Position Summary

We are seeking our first, full-time finance professional. This is a unique opportunity for the qualified candidate to “get in on the ground floor” and help build a world-class financial operation.


Finance & Administration Major Responsibilities

  • Oversee all finance and admin-related processes
  • Help manage the company’s finance function with a focus on procurement
  • Develop proper controls and processes to effectively manage finance and admin
  • Responsible for monthly close process: balance sheet account reconciliations, income statement trend analyses, preparation of journal entries
  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities and internal reporting for A/P, Projects, Cash Management, Fixed Assets and Payroll
  • Analyze actual results against the budget/forecast
  • Assist with the annual audit and tax workpapers
  • Manage NIH Grant accounting and reporting
  • Manage corporate documents via an electronic document room and ensure that all corporate documents are saved and stored with the appropriate access rights
  • Other projects as assigned which might include Facilities, HR, IT and other admin

Scientific Recruiter

Position Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Scientific Recruiter to partner with our scientific and leadership team in Durham to help us identify and attract the talent needed to grow our successful biotech company. Ideally this is a contract or consulting role, but may be up to 40 hours per week for a period of time.


Position Responsibilities

  • Perform full cycle recruiting activities including sourcing, interviewing, reference checking, negotiating and extending offers
  • Sourcing and developing a pipeline of active and passive job seekers using your past successful networking techniques, professional organizations, the internet, direct sourcing, and referrals
  • Partner creatively with hiring managers in order to develop a tailor-made recruitment strategy, attract top talent, and meet hiring deadlines
  • Drive the entire recruitment process helping to evaluate and assess talent
  • Prepare candidate offer packages, negotiate and extend job offers and coordinate on-boarding for newly hired employees

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of seven, 7, years’ experience with full life cycle recruiting
  • Prior experience working within internal Corporate Talent Acquisition Teams as well as external staffing firms
  • Knowledge and experience with the RTP life sciences recruiting market
  • Scientific background a plus

Associate Director/Director, Molecular Biology

Durham, NC

Position Summary

The Associate Director will report to the Senior Director of Research, and will be responsible for managing a group that supports the company’s small molecule discovery efforts through validation of new RNA targets and the development of molecular and genetic assays. He/she will be expected to drive a culture of consensus driven teams and to streamline the drug discovery process with strategic consideration and tactical insights. The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and genetics, and be highly analytical, goal oriented and collaborative.


Position Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in the design and interpretation of molecular, genetic and genomic experiments to support ongoing small molecule drug discovery programs
  • Supervise and mentor scientists responsible for generating molecular biology assays and reagents for target validation, drug discovery, and biomarker discovery
  • Scout, evaluate and integrate new technologies for genetic, molecular or phenotypic analysis of gene/RNA function

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, cancer biology or genetics or related discipline
  • 5-10 years of experience working in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience managing scientists in a drug discovery setting
  • Proven track record of applying innovative genetic, molecular and cell biological techniques to the discovery and development of targets and potential therapeutics
  • Experience working with RNA is preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to interpret and communicate complex genetic/molecular data to different audiences
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly-collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities

Research Associate, RNA Screening

Reports to Scientist II

Durham, NC

Position Summary

We are looking for a motivated Research Associate to join our exciting startup biotech company. The RA will assist with a broad range of start-of-the-art small molecule screening projects against RNA targets, incorporating high-throughput screening, next-generation sequencing, and RNA-based techniques in collaboration with scientists. The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience outside of academia.


Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemistry, Cell or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year in a lab setting, outside of classwork
  • Experience working in RNase free conditions; experience in aseptic/clean room will also be considered
  • Experience with high-throughput small molecule screening assays is required
  • Experience with RNA preparation, handling, and purification is highly preferred
  • Experience with PCR is preferred
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing is a plus

We are searching for a motivated Research Associate to join our technology development efforts. The associate will assist in developing cutting-edge biochemical and cell-based assays incorporating next-generation sequencing, high-throughput screening, and RNA-focused technologies. An ideal candidate will be prepared to work efficiently, have a knack for problem-solving, eager to learn new techniques, and be capable of working independently or as part of a team.


Position Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute a range of biochemical and cell-based assays with proper controls
  • Maintain a detailed and up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook
  • Interpret and communicate laboratory results both orally and in written form

Requirements and Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of laboratory research experience in an industry setting
  • Experience with assay design, development, and optimization
  • Proficient in PCR, molecular cloning, and related techniques
  • Proficient in cell and tissue culture techniques
  • Experience with RNA preparation, handling, and purification is highly preferred
